“Tiptree Sings” is a very new choir in Tiptree singing popular songs from the American Songbook & the best pop songs from the last few decades, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. No auditions and you don’t need to read music. You just need the enthusiasm to come along and have a great time singing.
The benefits of singing are both physical and psychological and when people sing together it creates “an increased sense of community, belonging and shared endeavour."
Singing really is good for you. It involves virtually every muscle group, vibrating the whole system like a tonic massage. It increases lung capacity, improves posture, clears the sinuses and boosts mental alertness by increasing the amount of oxygen in the blood. And for good measure it exercises the facial muscles – helping to maintain youthful good looks, now if ever there was a reason to sing………
Martyn Blagden is founder of the choir and has lived nearby in Brightlingsea for 30 years. Martyn has spent the last twenty years as musical director for local theatre and amateur dramatics in Essex and has a passion for getting people of all ages and experience singing together.
Since starting the choir in February 2013 we currently enjoy a membership of about 67 but are always looking for more faces to join us. Especially Men !
Anyone interested in getting singing with us please get in touch. There may be a small waiting list for alto or soprano voices but we always have room for a couple more men!
